As a rule, your track should be at least twice the width of the door. So you should know the measurement of the opening and the door, but the width of the door is what you’ll use to determine track length. The hanging hardware and the wheels are sold separately.

The track should be at least 2 times the width of the door. A 24 inch wide door will need a track that is at least 48 inches long. Our blog on how to measure for a barn door is a great guide. Our Black Classic Flat Track for Sliding Barn Doors is sold separately from the hanging hardware. To hang the door, consider the classic door hangers as they will be easier to install than the other style we offer. For more information, check out our barn door installation videos and guides.

As a rule, your track should be at least twice the width of the door. So if your door is 24 inches wide, the track should be 48 inches long. Sliding barn doors need to be a couple of inches wider than the opening they cover to provide sound sealing. So you should know the measurement of the opening and the door, but the width of the door is what you’ll use to determine track length. It’s important to ensure that you will have enough clearance on the wall for the door.
