What is the difference between Outer Width and Inner Width of a beam?

What is the difference between Outer Width and Inner Width. Does 5inches outer mean the inside width??? I would like to order a beam today but just need confirmation.

Outer width is the width outside the beam. The inner width is the width inside the beam. Our product walls are 1'' thick with a variance of +/- 1/4''.
